Control the DNS Port Used for Lookups
This setting controls which port is used for DNS lookup requests. The default is port 53, but in some firewall situations the settings can be useful to specify an alternate port.
Open your registry and find the key below.
Create a new String value (or DWORD value for Windows 95) called "DnsServerPort" and set it to equal the required port address.
Restart Windows for the change to take effect.
Settings:
System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP]
Name: DnsServerPort
Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
Value: Port Number (Default = 53)
